It is 30 minutes south to northern Cincinnati’s Bethesda North TriHealth Hospital. If you head north, it’s 35 minutes to downtown Dayton offering Grandview Medical Center, Southview Medical Center, Dayton Children’s Hospital, and Miami Valley Regional Hospital.

It’s hard to know what Waynesville is better known as, the Antiques Capital of the Midwest, or the Home of the famous Sauerkraut festival.  This village of 2,800 residents was named for General “Mad” Anthony Wayne.

Caesar Creek State Park and the Pioneer Village are popular regional destinations for camping, boating and swimming trips. 

The town offers an entertaining summer concert series at Bicentennial Park. For the more adventurous who want to explore, Waynesville has been called the most haunted town in Ohio complete with ghost sightings and ghost stories. 

In 1999 Waynesville was named one of the most walkable cities by Walking Magazine with lovely trails through town and the nearby state park. But, it’s perhaps best known as host to the annual Sauerkraut Festival, held the second weekend in October. Christmas in the Village is an annual event when you can step back into time with luminaries, carriage rides, costumed characters and more. The annual fall Ohio Renaissance Festival is held in nearby Harveysburg.

Old Main Street is the starting point for your antique adventure. With more than 85 antique shops, 17 restaurants and other attractions, you'll need more than a day to explore all that this charming town has to offer. Local merchants also supply the needs of this growing community with hardware, grocery and other services nearby.

Samuel Heighway founded Waynesville in 1797 and based his design for the town on an English village with formal parks and squares arranged around a central public square. Its leading industry today is tourism, as Waynesville is best known for its 85 antique shops. It’s a constant hustle and bustle downtown on Old Main Street with tourists and town residents coming and going. Housing reflects that old time character and charm, and there are some lovely renovated farmhouses and estates both in and out of town. If you prefer newer homes, you will have quite a selection of homes to select from.

Waynesville

Waynesville is located at the intersection St. Rt. 42 and St Rt. 73, a few minutes off I-71 in northeastern Warren County, 30 minutes southeast of Dayton. Red Stewart Airfield is located on Route 42 and is a grass airfield.

Bethesda Medical Center at Arrow Springs offers the region state-of-the-art outpatient medical care, including 24-hour emergency services and comprehensive diagnostic testing. Across the county is the Atrium Medical Center, and just a few minutes south on I-71 is Bethesda North Hospital, one of the area’s busiest hospitals.

Lebanon: A Picturesque Hometown 

Ideally situated in one of the region’s most active areas, residents have a lot to choose from. Kings Island, The Beach Waterpark, Great Wolf Lodge Water Park offer the thrill of roller coasters and splash parks. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the historic Ft. Ancient, Caesars Creek State Park, both the Little Miami and Lebanon Trails. Those following pro sports can choose to watch professional tennis and volleyball tournaments, or catch the motor sports at the Lebanon Raceway. Oregonia is best known as the home of Ft. Ancient. Here the remains of prehistoric mounds built by the Hopewell Indians features 18,000 feet of earthen walls built 2,000 years ago. It’s the largest prehistoric hilltop enclosure in the United States.

You’ll find basic needs in Oregonia, with most residents heading to nearby Lebanon for their shopping needs. Several major shopping malls are within a 30 minute drive.

The sleepy village of Oregonia sits in northwestern Washington Township, on the eastern shore of the scenic Little Miami River about five miles northeast of Lebanon. First settled by mill owners around 1802, the town was originally called Freeport, then Oregon, and finally sometime in the 1880s it became Oregonia. Today, Oregonia is a stop on the Little Miami Bike Trail which follows the former train route along the Little Miami River. Bikers, hikers, and canoers often stop at the market or a restaurant along the trail which follows the river on the former train route. In October of each year, the "Devils Staircase" motorcycle hill climb is held on a hill just south of the main settlement.

Oregonia

Oregonia is easily reachable via Interstate 71, St. Rt. 123, and Oregonia or Corwin Road.

Strip malls, fast food restaurants and new shops are springing up all over Xenia about a ten-minute drive from Spring Valley. Located 20 minutes away, the Mall at Fairfield Commons contains five department stores and 130 franchise clothing, shoe and specialty stores.

Rt. 725 and 42 serve the area, with I-675 about 15 minutes west.

Spring Valley

The Greene County Memorial Hospital is located in Xenia. Greene County Memorial is a 210 bed general, not for profit hospital.

Atrium Medical Center is about a 15-minute drive and is located in Middletown. Hospitals in Dayton, including Miami Valley Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Kindred Hospital (rehabilitation), Access Hospital (mental health and substance abuse programming), Medical Center at Elizabeth Place and Kettering Medical Center are conveniently located nearby. Dayton Children’s Hospital is located in Miamisburg with an outpatient center located in Springboro.

Springboro was settled around 1796 and later founded as "Springborough" in 1815. The name "Springboro" comes from the number of springs found in the region which served the mills in the area. Predominantly a Quaker area, Springboro was an important stop on the Underground Railroad and was the first city to erect an Ohio Underground Railroad Historic Marker.

The city has over 400 acres throughout its eight city parks and many green spaces including private country clubs and neighborhood green areas. Three recreational parks, North Park, Community Park and Clearcreek Park, offer activities for an active lifestyle, featuring basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, playgrounds, fitness stations, and walking trails. The city also has small public parks including a plaza in the historic district. Heatherwoode Golf Course is a premier public course run by the city. 

The city is committed to offering safe biking lanes throughout the neighborhoods, business areas and parks with its Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. 

Springboro’s Historical Museum offers a chance to explore the rich history of the area. The Wright B Flyer Museum is a great place to learn about aviation. 

For those who enjoy entertainment, the La Comedia Dinner Theater combines dining and Broadway-style entertainment. 

Springboro hosts an annual three-day Christmas in Historic Springboro Festival every year and is a great way to start the holiday season.

Springboro has the kind of downtown meant for exploring with quaint shops offering unique gifts and home accessories. Numerous strip malls supply residents' day-to-day needs, and nearby shopping malls in Dayton, northern Cincinnati and Middletown fill those other needs.

Springboro was ranked among the top 50 best places to live in America by Money magazine in 2011 and the 7th Best Place to Raise a Young Family in Ohio in 2013. It is located in the geographic center of the Dayton-Cincinnati Metroplex. The city is 15 minutes south of Dayton in northern Warren County and is a northern suburb for Cincinnati. Springboro's old-time atmosphere reflects the city's rich heritage. Springboro has an eclectic mix of housing styles and one finds homes of stately residences as well as more modest homes and condominiums in a variety of styles and price ranges.

I-75 is the main traffic route, with St Rt. 73 and 741 providing neighborhood access. Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport is located near the city's northern border. The Dayton International Airport also services the area.

Caesar Creek State Park with its 2,830-acre lake provides camping, equestrian camping, boating, hiking, fishing, swimming, and hunting in-season in the adjacent Caesar Creek Wilderness area. Canoeing and fishing can also be found along the Little Miami River and the Little Miami Bike Trail runs through eastern Wayne Township.

Known as the Antique Capital of the Midwest, Waynesville is the place to shop. Located a few miles away are Dayton Shopping Mall, Cross Pointe Shopping Center in Centerville and Sugar Bell Shopping Center in nearby Bellbrook.

A mostly rural township located in the northeast part of Warren County, it includes the Village of Waynesville, Caesar Creek State Park, Caesar Creek Wilderness Area, and part of the Little Miami River and Little Miami Bike Trail. The Village of Waynesville is noted for its antiques (the “Antique Capital of the Midwest”) and annual Sauerkraut Festival. Another point of interest located just south of Waynesville is the Corwin M. Nixon covered bridge, spanning the Little Miami River.

To the west of the township is I-75 and to the east is I-71. Through the center of the township running east to west is State Route 73 and northeast to southwest is US Route 42.
